Athens

We arrived at Athens airport early evening, and were very glad to have a private transfer! Long lineups for taxis and lots of traffic, especially in the center of Athens as the Prime Minister was going to give a speech.
We are staying at a small hotel in the Plaka, simple but clean and friendly.
There is a lovely roof terrace where breakfast is served.
This morning we had a small group (which turned out to be private!) walking tour, to the Acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Olympic Stadium, National Gardens and Parliament. It was good to do a morning tour to beat the heat, and the worst of the crowds. As we were coming down from the Acropolis, there were hoards going up! There are certainly lots of tourists around, especially the Acropolis and the Plaka.
After a rest we will head over to the New Acropolis Museum.
